Walthamstow

The marshes in Walthamstow offer a wealth of crops for the forager, including hogweed, elder, nettles, dandelions, wild garlic, wild chervil and brambles. The streets around Walthamstow are quite often lined with fruit and nut trees. We’ve found crab apples, walnuts and pears.

We would advise against scaling the billboards next to Blackhorse Road underground station, no matter how bounteous the walnut tree: the police are liable to ask you if you have a ticket. (For that matter, should you find yourself in this situation, don't try to snatch a photograph of the policeman for your website...)
